American Recordings is the 81st album by the country singer Johnny Cash. It was released on April 26, 1994 by American Recordings, after it had changed its name from Def American. The album marked the beginning of a career resurgence for Cash, who was widely recognized as an icon of American music but whose record sales had suffered during the late 1970s and 1980s.
I saw our first album for the first time at Alexander's department store, probably the day it was released. It was cool, sort of like the first time I heard myself on the radio. Johnny Ramone in 1976, the Ramones made their Sire Records debut with their self-titled debut studio album. In 2006, it was chosen by TIME as one of the 100 greatest albums ever.

Jerry Fuller's production of The First Time Ever (I Saw Your Face) for Johnny Mathis is a pleasant and much-needed change in sound, as his same formula continues - songs of the day mixed in with movie themes. Unfortunately, this change in sound was not utilized to its full potential. Al Capps arranges five of the 12 tunes, including the title track and "Love Theme From 'The Godfather' (Speak Softly Love). in the mellowness of the first two selections, not giving the listener (or the LP, for that matter) a chance to breathe. Al Capps' arrangements are gorgeous, but it is all a bit overwhelming, too much. in too quick a succession. It's Album Time is, as advertised, his first full-length album. The title sets the tone: Casual, confident, and unburdened by the imagined need for significance that scares so many good dance producers into losing their cool when given a bigger platform. Most of the music on it could be classified as disco, with shades of cocktail lounge, exotica, surf instrumentals, and other styles that favor whimsy and novelty over sober artistic expression
Even the mid-album relationship number, "Johnny and Mary," with crestfallen vocals by Bryan Ferry, feels like a constructive step toward it; an emotional spring cleaning. The whole of It's Album Time, not unlike a certain robotic French duo's latest effort, ebbs and flows with nostalgia for this journey to the light. Unlike the French, though, Terje seems to still believe that the moment will again be attainable, instead of forever lost to a bygone youth. The effectiveness of this arc will probably depend on your personal philosophy
