Sepultura – Dante XXI. Label: Steamhammer – SPV 99812 CD. Format: CD, Album, Digipak. Primal, venerable artistry. Released in 2006, DANTE XXI was the tenth full-length album by Brazil’s Sepultura, a concept album based on Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy. It was the last release to feature Igor Cavalera on drums. Videos were made for two of the album’s best songs – "Convicted in Life" and "Ostia – the latter featuring a moving violin solo. Band leader/main composer Andreas Kisser joined the band as lead guitarist in 1987 in time to influence their second album, SCHIZOPHRENIA
In that vein Dante XXI is Sepultura at their most ambitious, not only because they choose Dante’s Divine Comedy as an inspiration for this concept album, but because they decide to adapt it into a modern, 21st-century context. Challenging job to say the least, only here Sepultura deliver, not just lyrically (Green has done a great job here) but also musically

Dante XXI is the tenth studio album by Brazilian thrash metal band Sepultura, released in 2006 through SPV Records. It is a concept album based on the three sections of Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy, Inferno (hell), Purgatorio (purgatory), and Paradiso (paradise). The album has five tracks based on Inferno (with just the band), five tracks based on Purgatorio (featuring the band with guests and other instruments), and the final track based on Paradiso (an instrumental).
Dante XXI shows, on the other hand, that the band is still highly ambitious, and this particular album is a concept of Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy, through the eyes of the 21st century. The album is separated into 3 parts: Hell, Purgatory, and Paradis. s the main character from The Divine Comedy goes through each throughout the plot of the book. The music in the first part of the album is amongst the most brutal Sepultura has ever produced.
