Bands have to start somewhere, and Earth & Fire started off as a Dutch beat group with psychedelic overtones. In fact they were more of a single-oriented act who quickly discovered they can also do the album market, as albums like Song of the Marching Children and Atlantis can attest to. This 1970 debut was first released on Polydor/Medium with the matchbook cover that folds open like a matchbook. On the cover you see the bands members in a meadow, with Jerney Kaagman adopting a frizzed hairstyle (that she got rid of by 1971). This shows a more rough and unpolished Earth & Fire, with several songs released as singles, some of them released prior to the album's release. Seasons", in fact, was their very first single that was released at the end of 1969. Ruby is the One" was their second single and also included here.
Earth and Fire (1967-1983 and 1987-1990) was a slightly psychedelic and symphonic pop band, with singer and front woman Jerney Kaagman and twin brothers Chris Koerts (guitars) and Gerard Koerts (keyboards) as its core members. The band members hailed from places Voorschoten, Voorburg and Leidschendam, suburban towns of The Hague, The Netherlands.

Earth, Wind, & Fire is the debut album released on Warner Bros. The music on this album is much tougher and more raw than the sound the group later became famous for. The vocals are very much a collaborative effort. Leads are freely traded, and many lines are sung by multiple voices.
The original album cover for Clear Blue Sky had a black and white line drawing on the inside of the gatefold cover and the drawing (or a photographic print) were later shown on a variety of backgrounds. There were however, two paintings started on marbled backgrounds, the first can be seen in the book Views, this is the second. roger dean art. Steve Howe – Beginnings; 1975.
