The decade between 2000-2009 was an interesting one in Hip Hop. We didn’t see nearly as many classics as we had witnessed in the 90s, but the sales for the albums of the 2000s were mostly through the roof. Possibly the greatest album of them all during this decade, Jay released The Blueprint, an album that was truly one of the better releases in his catalog. From the focused laser sharp lyricism to the lush soulful production of Just Blaze and Kanye West, this album was full of greatness. With tracks like Song Cry, Never Change, U Don’t Know, and many others, Jay showed that there was no one who could do it better at the time.
Something Corporate's debut album was an instant classic, launching the band into the Warped Tour stratosphere and beyond. It also featured the beloved anti-bully anthem "If You C Jordan," which solidified their high school fan base. Choice Track: "Hurricane". 25. Yellowcard – Ocean Avenue (2003). Is there anything more pop-punk than adding an electric violin to your band? After Green Day's lackluster ( cough boring cough ) 2000 album Warning, it seemed as though the once proud kings of pop-punk were doomed to slowly fade into obscurity. Then American Idiot came out of nowhere and vaulted them back on top of the game. Choice Track: "Holiday".
By 2000, to put it very lightly, the Wu-Tang Clan had diversified their bonds. RZA’s original plan for the group ended with 1997’s Forever, and by the turn of the millennium, many fans lamented the loss of his hold over the group, which had more or less devolved into a watered-down brand stamped onto a variety of middling stuff. In this context, The W was as surprising as it was pleasing, packing some of the RZA’s best production work, and some of the group’s best music
The first decade of the 2000s was a unique one for metal music. During the metalcore wave of the early-to-mid 2000s, bands around the globe began to become more and more influenced by new music due to the Internet. Although most metalcore bands drowned in the flood of Myspace-based acts, As I Lay Dying emerged as one of the genre's leaders. Showcasing the tracks, '94 Hours and 'Forever,' the album 'Frail Words Collapse' stands out as a highlight in the metalcore universe. 10. 'Jane Doe' (2001).
