The Rotters Club is a fine achievement. It isn't for those who like a little repetition in their music, nor is it for faint-hearted people who like their music to be full of straightforward chord progressions. It is complicated, intricate, and in parts seems a little random. But repeated listening will reward the persistent and unlock the hidden secrets that lie within this wonderful album. All in all, this is an excellent Hatfield & the North album and is highly recommended along with the 1973 debut.

So why "The Rotters' Club" and not something by Soft Machine or National Health or even the debut by Hatfield and the North? As it happens, this album is mentioned among 65 recommended prog albums in the book "Citizens of Hope and Glory: The Story of Progressive Rock" by Stephen Lambe, and I have found the book to be very useful as a guide in my prog education.
