The “RED” side opens with whispered vocals, then a high 'n' happy metallic-sounding sequence / rhythm, hypnotically ushering in “Picture” - a bright, medium-paced DEPECHE MODE-type thing, unique in it’s own merits. "Black Tunnel” follows, drifting in slowly to form another runaway sequencer rhythm, not unlike one of GLASS’s “Floes” put into a pop context. Not as catchy as the first track, but it works it’s way in through your ears. “Think About” is next, introduced by angry voices, and the music slowly pieces itself together to form something quite catchy & irresistable. Side one closes with “Apache Song”, drum in with a sort of “Red Indian” chanting to form a pretty decent song. The “GREEN” side opens with what I think is called ‘Jalousie” perhaps their best track on this cassette - nice little mover, as they say - a little more straightforward in composition & structure than some of their other stuff - it’d probably make a good single. “Train” comes next, a real mover with fast pattering drums carrying it ever onwards."Act V" follows this, growing from throbbing synth soup into a spiky piece which meanders & sprawls where it sees fit. The tape ends with “Quartermaine” a huge sweeping opening chord & machine sounds herald a fast mover with more than a hint of Industrial Music to it.It has to be said that the sound can be a little thin at times, but this is due to them being a duo, and often the songs sound surprisingly mature & full. If you like ATTRITION, DANCE NAKED, DEPECHE MODE, give them a go - you never know you might end up addicted!Originally reviewed for Soft Watch.
