James Newell Osterberg Jr. (born April 21, 1947), better known as Iggy Pop, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and actor. Designated the "Godfather of Punk", he was the vocalist of influential proto-punk band The Stooges, who were formed in 1967 and have disbanded and reunited multiple times since. He began a solo career with the 1977 albums The Idiot and Lust for Life, recorded in collaboration with David Bowie.

Check out some interesting facts about Iggy Pop, such as his first musical efforts, friendship with David Bowie, his involvement with the Lord of the Rings movie, et. David Bowie met Iggy at a New York nightclub named Max's Kansas City. In 1972 Bowie decided to produce an album with Pop in England. This fruitful collaboration brought us the landmark album Raw Power, and two Iggy’s solo albums The Idiot, and Lust for Life. Bowie was also a co-producer of Iggy’s album Blah-Blah-Blah

Iggy Pop then improvised the lyrics, alluding to the clean regime he and Bowie were trying to observe ( No more beating my brains with the liquor and drugs ), while the that’s like hypnotising chickens line comes straight from the character Johnny Yen in William Buroughs’ novel The Ticket That Exploded. The song got a boost in the 90s when it was prominently used in the film Trainspotting, and thanks to that exposure, it now rivals The Passenger as Pop’s best-known song. Lust For Life is also the title track of the first album written and conceived entirely in Berlin for both Iggy and Bowie. It may surprise some that Iggy Pop’s best selling album to date is 1990’s Brick by Brick, mainly thanks to his first US top 40 hit, Candy, a duet with the B52s’ Kate Pierson. The album was poor, and at times, puerile; the follow-up, American Caesar, was vastly superior, but sold nothing like its predecessor.

So does Iggy Pop. In 2016 alone, Pop released a gem of an album, Post Pop Depression; toured with a band led by that album's producer Josh Homme, released as a live album and concert film, Post Pop Depression Live at the Royal Albert Hall; logged another tour featuring his usual touring band; and still found time to help put the finishing touches on Jim. Jarmusch's Gimme Danger, a documentary about his groundbreaking band the Stooges, and contribute to a fantastic new book about the proto-punk legends, Total Chaos: The Story of the Stooges, out today.

Blah-Blah-Blah (Iggy Pop album). Blah-Blah-Blah is the seventh studio album by Iggy Pop. Originally released in October 1986, on the label A&M, it remains his most commercially successful album to date. Blah-Blah-Blah appeared after a four-year hiatus for Pop, with David Bowie serving as his prime collaborator. It would be their final collaboration. A successful tour followed the album's release.

On Post-Pop Depression, Iggy Pop deliberately uses the strength of his sound to summon something more than temporary wrat. or one last time. Whether announced or not, every legendary artist will have a final album. We learned that tragic lesson in real-time with David Bowie’s ★, the master’s impending death revealing itself upon repeat listens. Pop announced that finality himself upon the release of Post-Pop Depression, both in the press and in the album itself.
